tomorrow is the boys' last day of school. they are so excited they are about to jump out of their skins. and the day is morning only. i told them that i would take them out to lunch when i pick them up and they are pretty thrilled.
but i don't want them sitting around all day watching tv or playing video games. so i have already created a summer plan for them and posted it on the fridge. it goes like this....
Every day you must...
make your bed
clean up your room
feed your pets
put away your laundry (if mom has washed clothes)
empty the dishwasher (the boys work on this together)
read for 15 minutes
have one hour of quiet time (no electronics)
Every day choose 2 from this group...
take the dog on a 20 minute walk
play outside for 30 minutes
swim and play in the pool for one hour
do an exercise video
walk on the treadmill for 20 minutes
Every day choose 1 from this group
water the garden
water the potted plants
vacuum
dust
load the dishwasher
fold laundry
Every day choose 1 from this group
Evan: practice summer spelling words
do two pages of handwriting book
do two pages of math practice
play a learning game for 15 minutes
Chris: work on summer computer class
work on summer homework assignment
practice piano, sax or guitar for 20 minutes
I told them that this new routine begins on Monday, I decided to let them take the weekend off. :) I'll let you know how this goes---they may mutiny on me!
Blessings friends!

This is such a fantastic idea! I love the idea of having organized lists of activities.. Kids really do need schedules and summer can be such disorganized chaos! Here's to a happy summer vacation!
