At the school district that my kids attend there is only one elementary school. And one of the cool things about the elementary school is that there are annual traditions for each grade. In kindergarten, the kids have an annual Easter egg hunt. In second grade, they build gingerbread houses. In first grade, they have a Thanksgiving feast. In the two weeks prior to the feast, they learn about the Pilgrims, the Mayflower, Plymouth Rock, the first Thanksgiving, etc.
They make little costumes out of paper and grocery sacks. All the kids (parents) are asked to bring something to contribute to the feast. It is basically the same as it was 5 years ago when Chris was in frist grade as it is now. Today was Evan's feast.

Time to dig in!
Look at all these kids! And this isn't even all of them. This is just what I could fit into the shot! When Chris was in first grade, there was maybe 1/3 this many.
This is E and one of his best buds. they were in kindergarten together and we were so, so, so happy when we found out they were in first grade together.
This was his placemat that he made---Look! he's grateful for us! I would have guessed he was grateful for video games. LOL--:)
